Legume Grains as an Alternative to Soybean Meal in the Diet of Intensively Reared Dairy Ewes
نویسندگان
چکیده
Grain legumes are feedstuffs with high nutritional value that could replace soybean in dairy sheep nutrition. This be beneficial terms of economic efficiency and environmental sustainability. However, research regarding their potential effects on animal performance is scarce. The objective was to assess milk production body condition score (BCS) intensively reared ewes after replacing meal a mixture lupin, pea, vetch, faba bean ration. A total 40 Chios were randomly selected. They allocated two (n = 20) groups C T; both fed same amounts Lucerne hay wheat straw as well concentrate feed formulated either inclusion for Group or T. Both feeds had equal energy protein contents. Data collection performed every 15 days 60-day period (a five measurements). In each measurement, ewe BCS assessed, yield recorded electronically, individual samples collected chemical composition (fat, protein, lactose, solids-non-fat content); corrected components calculated. Moreover, refusals from group weighed calculate intake. Average daily intake lower T compared C. Nutritional management did not significantly affect (p > 0.05) BCS. An exception the last measurement where < higher lactose SNF yield, content. Results suggest studied without compromising productivity ewes.

Effects of Supplementing Xylose‐Treated Soybean Meal or Untreated Corn Gluten Meal to Lactating Dairy Cows
This experiment was performed to investigate whether feeding xylose-treated soybean meal (XSBM) or corn gluten meal (CGM) is economically better under field conditions. Ninety-four multiparous early lactating Holstein cows (55±5 days in milk and 2.82±0.41 body condition score) were used in a completely randomized design. Cows were randomly assigned to one of two treatments: XSBM or CGM as the m...

The effects of water restriction on rectal temperature, respiratory rate and selected blood variables in intensively reared Lacaune ewes were evaluated. The tests were carried out over the course of 28 days in spring on 30 lactating sheep divided into three groups of 10 animals each, matched by lactation status and body weight and allocated into individual boxes. The animal groups were as follo...
متن کاملHomeopathy as an Alternative to Control of Verminosis Ewes
Background: Verminosis is the main limiting factor in sheep production. Its control has become more and more difficult because of resistance of gastrointestinal helminths to some active ingredients, which has led to search of alternative ways to verminosis control. Based on that, the goal of study was to evaluate the effect of homeopathy for verminosis control in sheep. Materials and Methods: T...
متن کاملIn vitro Evaluation of Different Substitution Levels of Soybean Meal by Guar Meal in a Fattening Diet for Lambs
The aim of the current study was to evaluate the replacement effect of soybean meal (SBM) at different levels (0 as D1, 33 as D2, 67 as D3 and 100% as D4 based on crude protein (CP) content) by guar meal (GM) on ruminal gas production kinetics, ruminal digestibility and fermentation characteristics of a fattening diet for lambs. Three experiments were conducted. The first experiment of 144-h in...
متن کاملIn situ Evaluation of Ruminal Degradability and Intestinal Digestibility of Sunflower Meal Compared to Soybean Meal
The aim of this study was to compare the nutritional value of sunflower meal (SFM) and soybean meal (SBM) protein by determining both its ruminal degradability and intestinal digestibility. Three non lactating Jersey cows fitted with a rumen and T-type duodenal cannulas were used to estimate rumen degradability and intestinal digestibility of SFM and SBM dry matter (DM) and crude protein (CP). ...
